My computer audio library is linked to the entertainment sound system and I am less than enthused by the bass for this purpose. The sound provided when watching movies is similar to the movie theatre experience. The tight clear sound from bass guitar is lost in deep reverberating bass. I am type of person who enjoys sound quality but not inclined to spend more for high end audio components. This subwoofer provides the deep bass required for my 5 speaker system. I enjoy rock music and feel as if the bass is more inclined to serve hip hop music.
It's small size BOOM is BOOM BA BOOM BABOOM and it produces a BOOMing incredible amount of TIGHT, ACCURATE, CHEST POUNDING BASS.BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMNot "boomy" BOOM at all, just powerful.BOOM.That is all. This sub kicks serious BOOM. Highly recoBOOMed for apartments, bedrooms, and small to medium sized rooms in need of thump.
I have three of them in different environments and they all are up to the task. Don't be afraid of the price or the size for a small to mid small room and use corner placement and you will be happy. Bought as a music sub, I can vouch from my most recent viewing of Independence Day on cable in our game room.it can kick _ _ _ _ too. I was very suprised to find it can boogey. Small size and smaller cost.but what a performer. Our bedroom, game room, and my wife's craft room jump to the beat of this little black box. Lots of knobs that work and do the right thing too.
The sub can be configured many different ways. I run it at half volume and it's enough for my 40'x18' room. Works great with my other polk speakers. I use a basic sub cable and it sounds clean and punchy (not too boomy).
My room size is 14 X 17 and it does a great job. This is another great product manufactured by Polk Audio. There are no rattles or distortion.
